Cochran – Malcolm G. "Mickey" McPhaul, age 86, died peacefully Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. in the Cochran First Baptist Church. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. McPhaul, born in Worth County, Georgia, was the son of the late Neal Alexander and Georgia Hurst McPhaul. He was preceded in death by his sister Lora McPhaul Newman and twin brother Sam Hurst McPhaul. He was a US Marine Veteran of the Korean War and a retired Colonel from the US Army having served in Vietnam as a Green Beret and Master Parachutest. He was a retired Physical Education instructor from Middle Georgia College. Coach McPhaul was a physical fitness enthusiast who also enjoyed flying and skydiving. He was a member of Cochran First Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Sandra Dykes McPhaul of Cochran; his children, Randi (Leo) Phillips and Gil (Tom Morris) McPhaul of Cochran and Jennifer (Stacey) Dunn of Birmingham, AL; his grandchildren, Leo Phillips III of Denver, CO, Sydney Phillips of Atlanta, Alan Dunn of Dallas, TX, Caroline Dunn of New York, NY and Lynn Phillips Davis of Monument, CO; his great grandchildren, Rebecca, Angelo and Lilly Davis of Monument, CO; his sister, Harriette McPhaul Adams of Gainesville, FL; his nieces, nephews and devoted caregivers, Tora Curry and Tasha Curry.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor's military charity of choice.

The family is at 206 South Second Street, Cochran and will greet friends after the service Thursday at Cochran First Baptist Church.
