Byron – Marcelle Newman, age 87, died Thursday, August 9, 2018, at her home in Byron. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Newman had lived in Bibb County and Cochran before moving to Byron. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Lee and Elizabeth Ruth Sharpe Cook and the wife of the late Lamar Newman and was preceded in death by her son, Raymond L. Newman. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base and was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors are her daughter, Andrea (James) Amos of Byron; 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 134 Abney Rd, Cochran, GA 31014.

The family will greet friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Mathis Funeral Home.
