Cochran - Martha "Rachel" Owens Tomberlin, 80, of Cochran, GA, passed March 18, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She requested no services and burial will be private.

Mrs. Tomberlin was born October 2, 1943, in Ben Hill County to the late Starling Peeples & Marion Frey Owens. She was a 1961 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. After high school, she went to pursue her nursing degree at the Norman Park School in Moultrie, GA. After nursing school, she reunited with her high school sweetheart, James Mayhue Tomberlin, whom she married on December 26, 1964 & spent 47 years of love & life together. She worked at Lithonia Lighting & at the stores that she and Mayhue had together.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Mayhue Tomberlin; her sister/brother-in-law, Charlie & Ava Owens Smith; & her brother-in-law, J.T. Sellars.

She is survived by her children, Jason Marvin Tomberlin (Linda); Jennifer Dee Tomberlin (David Adair); James "Jimmy" Marion Tomberlin (Christina); she is also survived by her brother Leonard Owens, sister-in-law Bonita Sellars, her two grandchildren Caleb & Bailey Tomberlin, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins.

Her life was filled with family, friends, travel, excitement, and had enough love to fill the world. She will be greatly missed, but we know she is with Jesus and reunited with our daddy in Heaven.
