Obituary

Cochran – Mary Darsey Lyles Smith, age 89, died Thursday, September 1, 2022, in Bryant Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, at 3:00 P.M. in Evergreen Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Mary, a lifelong resident of Bleckley County, was the daughter of the late Pete and Fannie Mullis Darsey and was preceded in death by her husbands, M.T. Lyles and Sam Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter Brenda Lyles, her great granddaughter, Madison Hilliard, her sisters and brothers, Lois Bryant, Melba Purser, Lacy Golden, Billy Darsey and John Tom Darsey and her son-in-law, Tommy Bradley. Mrs. Mary was retired from L&H Shirt Factory, a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors are her children, Lynn Bradley of Irwinton and Janice (Mike) Davis of Cochran; grandchildren, Douglas (Pamela) Davis, Kelly (Mike) Wilson, Scott (Jennifer) Bradley and Laura (Brian) Bergeaux; thirteen great grandchildren; her brother, Dennis Darsey of Cairo; her brother-in-law, Wayne Golden of Alma, several nieces and nephews including Ella Tiburski of Blairsville and Faye and Calvin Grenade of Cochran.

The family is at 156 Felt Stewart Rd., Cochran and will greet friends from 2:00 P.M. until time for the service Friday at Evergreen Baptist Church.
