Empire – Mattie Byram Jones, age 88, passed away Monday, May 13,2024 in Bleckley Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bowers Cemetery.

Mrs. Mattie was a lifelong resident of Empire. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Griffin and Gladys Wynne Byram and was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Jones and her brothers, C.W. Byram and Aubrey Byram. Mrs. Mattie was retired from Bassett Furniture Co. in Dublin. She was a member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church and had attended Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors are her sister-in-law, Patricia Byram of Cochran; nephews, Tony (Wanda) Byram of Macon, Junior (Shelly) Byram of Cochran, Greg (Lisa) Byram of Cochran and Don (Teresa) Byram of Hawkinsville; her niece, Angela (Kim) Cranford of Cochran; several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

The family is at 995 Limestone Road, Cochran and will greet friends from 2:00 P.M. until time for the service Wednesday at Mathis Funeral Home.
