Obituary

Cochran – Max Perkins, age 82, died Monday, January 4, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness. Private graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

Mr. Max, a lifelong resident of Bleckley County, was the youngest and last remaining son of the late Pete and Ruth Williams Perkins. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, his sister, Lottie Grimsley and his brothers, Bernice Perkins, Aaron Perkins, Cub Perkins, Ray Perkins, Julius Perkins, Hugh Perkins and Bill Perkins. Mr. Max was retired from Robins Air Force Base and served in the Georgia National Guard. He was a 1956 graduate of Cochran High School and graduate of Middle Georgia College. He was a member of Limestone Baptist Church and former member of Empire Baptist Church. Mr. Max was a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, and great granddaddy.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Betty W. Perkins of Cochran; his daughter, Susan Perkins-Scott of Cochran; his granddaughters, Kathryn Scott (Derek) Burke of Cochran and Deanna Scott of Florida; great grandson and namesake Max Burke of Cochran; several nieces and nephews and his precious cat Bobbie and pet dog Jack.
