Cochran – Melissa Joiner Horne, age 98, died Friday, November 27, 2020, in Bryant Nursing Center. Private funeral services will be held Monday, November 30, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Horne, born in Ocilla, had lived most of her life in Cochran. She was the daughter of the late William and Annie Waldon Joiner and was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Horne, Sr. and her son Fred Horne. She was a retired surgical nurse assistant at Bleckley Memorial Hospital and a member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Melissa was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors are her children, Phyllis (Stephen) Burton and Jim (Sharon) Horne both of Cochran; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
