Cochran - Melvin Davis MacDonald Jr., A devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away on Sunday October 20, 2024, at the age of 81. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

Born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Mr. Melvin was the son of the late Melvin Davis MacDonald, Sr. and Ruth MacDonald. He is predeceased by his two sons, Michael and Daniel. After graduating high school in Gloucester, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served as an avionics technician for seven years. During the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Thailand servicing navigation equipment on aircraft. After leaving the Air force, he worked a variety of jobs eventually moving to Georgia. He earned a master's degree in business from Georgia College and worked at Alcoa until his retirement.

He is survived by his loving wife Delma; his sister Ruthy; his children Louis, Melvin, Kyle, Brian, Shannon, Patrick, Colleen; and five grandchildren.

He enjoyed spending time with family, sharing stories from his past, and a good meal. He worked hard, lived a long and full life, and will be missed.

The family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at Mathis Funeral Home.
