Cochran – Mervin Ray "Jerry" Deshotel, age 82, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, in Bleckley Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Twiggs County. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mervin Ray "Jerry" Deshotel was born in Bunkie Louisiana Sept 21, 1942. He lived most of his life in Middle Georgia after getting married and leaving the Army. He was known by many as "Cowboy" due to his love for horses and his innate ability to shoe horses no one else could handle. He loved to hunt and fish and continued to do so late in life. He was Baptist by faith and ready to see Jesus.

He is survived by his wife Jannice Sue Deshotel; his children, Mechelle (Wes) Corley, Ken Deshotel, Craig (Rachel) Goodson, Stephanie (Josh) Briscoe; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

The family is at 200 Pace Road, Cochran and will greet friends an hour before the service on Thursday, at Cool Springs Primitive Baptist Church.
