Michael Wayne Garner, son of Nikki Hix and the late Bobbie Garner, unexpectedly passed away on April 1st, 2024. He was born on October 24th, 1967, in Tampa, Florida and raised in Warner Robins, Georgia before settling residency in Cochran, Georgia.

When Mike wasn't piddling around in the yard or his shop, he enjoyed spending his free time fishing and hunting across the middle GA area. He was an avid outdoorsman who appreciated the simple joys of nature and the companionship of his hunting dog, Sadie. His friends and family remember him as a man who always had a story to tell, whether it was about the time he hooked a massive bass or the time he tracked down an elusive deer. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 35 years, Sherry, and a loving father to their two children, Marie and Shelby. Even though he's no longer with us physically, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, as well as in the many stories that will be told about his life for years to come.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sherry Garner; his children, Marie Bowen, Shelby Wells, and their spouses Gregory Bowen and Charlie Wells; his mother, Nikki Hix and her spouse Donald Hix; his sister, Shannon Moore, her daughter Alexis Alden and her mother, Sandy Garner; and his grandchildren, Noah, Colt, Caleb, Kennedy, and Cayson.

A visitation is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday April 5th followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Mathis Funeral Home on Dykes Street. Flowers and donations may be offered at the funeral home.
