Obituary

Cochran – Nellie Kate Spires Peacock, went to be with Jesus her Lord, Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 10:00 A.M. in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Peacock, born in Coffee County, Georgia, was a US Air Force wife for 22 years and moved to Cochran with her family in 1969. She was the daughter of the late, Lester James, Sr. and Essie Bell Hueliett Spires and was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Earl Peacock, her grandson Blake Peacock, her sisters, Hazel Varnadoe and Virginia Ashley and her brother, Jay Spires. She was a retired para-pro from Bleckley County Schools and a homemaker. Mrs. Nellie was a member of Cochran First Baptist Church where she taught the Oneness Sunday School Class and sang in the church choir with her husband, Edwin Earl.

Survivors are her children, Elaine (Neil) Brown, Erleene (Keith) Hanson and Edwin (Sheila) Peacock of Cochran and Eve (Terri Adkins) Peacock of Dublin; grandchildren, Eric (Christi) Sikes, Jacqueline (Brian) Curls, Justin Hanson, Kristen (Matthew) Alexander, Dustin Evans, Jamie (Ryan) Gary and Ronnie Graham.; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Lindsey, Hailey, Aiden, Jonathan, Samantha, Siddalee, Rylan, Drew and Jason; her sister, Linda Sue Spires Strickland of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews.
