Eastman – Pastor Harold J. Thornton, Sr., age 77, died Tuesday, December 31, 2019, in the Dodge County Hospital in Eastman. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2020, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cochran.

Pastor Thornton, born in Screven, GA, had lived in the Eastman area for the last 21 years. He was the son of the late Joseph M. and Maybell Griffis Thornton and was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Ann Thornton. He was a former employee of Gilman Paper in Eastman and Pastor and member of Pinetucky Church of God of Prophecy in Dublin.

Survivors are his children, Pastor Jay (Ann) Thornton of Eastman and Angie Moore of Titusville, FL; his grandsons, Erik (Melissa Curtis) Thornton of Coca, FL and Michael Moore of Titusville, FL; mother of his children, Delores English of Cochran; his sister, Elvera Boatright of Jessup; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 222 Roddy Highway, Eastman and will greet friends one hour before the service Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
