Cochran – Rolan Larry Sumner, age 77, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024, at his home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Larry, born in Tifton, GA, was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jane Dobbs Sumner and his parents, Rolan Aushton and Marie Posey Sumner. He graduated from Worth County High School in 1965 and earned his bachelor's degree from Georgia Southwestern University, class of 1969.  He and Jane moved to Cochran in the early 1970's where he worked as a Certified Public Accountant and later established his own CPA firm. He was a small business owner of Coin Laundromat in Cochran. He was an avid car enthusiast and animal lover. Larry was a member of First Baptist Church in Cochran.

He is survived by his sons, Eric (Julie) Sumner of Nashville, TN, and David (Stephanie) Sumner of Cochran, two grandchildren, Sophia and Sadie; his sister-in-law, Connie Barnett of Perry; several nieces, a nephew and cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Georgia Canine Rescue and Rehab (GCRR) of Cochran, 235 Mac Thompson Road, Cochran, GA 31014.

The family is at 203 Berkley Road, Cochran and will greet friends after the service Tuesday at Mathis Funeral Home.
