Cochran – Robert Grimsley, age 79, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 28, 2021, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Robert was born and had lived most of his life in Bleckley County. He was the son of the late Willie F. and Mozelle Lucas Grimsley and preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Grimsley, his sister, Janice Grimsley and his granddaughter, Ashley Grimsley Thigpen. He was retired from the State of Georgia Department of Corrections, a 1961 graduate of Cochran High School and loved gardening and fishing. Mr. Robert was a member and deacon at Salem Baptist Church and member of the Salem Cemetery Committee.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara M. Grimsley of Cochran; his sons, Robbie (Dana) Grimsley and Kerry (Teresa) Grimsley both of Cochran; his grandchildren, Rob (Lora) Grimsley, Dana Arnold, Kimber (Wes) Smith, Caroline Thomas, Ryan (Heather) Grimsley and Lynn (Natasha) Grimsley; twelve great grandchildren; his sister, Margaret (John) Brack of Cochran; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 894 GA Highway 278, Cochran and will greet friends after the service Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
