Robert "Earl" King, Jr., age 77, of Cochran, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Georgia, surrounded by his family.

Services to honor Earl's life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Limestone Baptist Church in Cochran. A visitation will take place from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be private in Limestone Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Earl was born in Milledgeville, Georgia, to the late Robert Earl King, Sr., and Sara Almeater Moore King Perry. He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Linda Haupt Trice King and his sister, Sarah Michelle King. After graduating from high school, Earl joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. During his tour of duty, he was severely wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart. His commendations also included the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, and Rifle Marksman Badge. Earl took great pride in his service to his country.

Following his military service, Earl worked in various roles throughout his career. He was a driver for C&H Bus Lines and a heavy equipment operator for JM Huber before ultimately retiring from Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base.

Earl is survived by his children, Robert Earl King III of Dublin, Erica Ann King of Crystal Lake, IL, and Mitchell Lee (Mistie) King of Jones County; his stepson, Anthony (Gentry) Trice of Bonaire; his grandchildren, Christopher King, Jacob King, Andrew King, Dominic Grimelli, Charlie Grimelli, and Brooklyn Michelle King; his great-granddaughter, Elizabeth King; his sister-in-law, Martha Haupt (Keith) Burke of Warner Robins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
