Cochran – Robert Michael "Mike" Smith, age 65, died Thursday, January 14, 2021, in Bleckley Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 3:00 P.M. in Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mike was a lifelong resident of Bleckley County. He graduated from Cochran High School in 1973. After high school he joined the Bleckley County Emergency Management Agency as a volunteer at the age of 18. He worked with his father at Smith Farm Supply and Smith Trucking before becoming the director of the Bleckley County Emergency Management Agency and the Bleckley County 911 Center. He was a retired honorary member of the Bleckley County Fire Department and the Bleckley County Emergency Agency and a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Diane S. Smith of Cochran; his children, Cindy (Robert) Eunice of Simpsonville, SC, Jason Smith of Tulsa, OK and Jamie (Nicole) Smith of Cochran; his parents, Jordan and Grace Smith of Cochran; sisters, Julie Smith of Savannah and Pam (Dr. Kim) Johnston of Macon; brother Kevin Smith of Cochran; grandchildren, Rachel and Dalton Eunice of Simpsonville, SC and Lily Smith of Cochran; several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 353 Frank Cook Road, Cochran, GA 31014 or Gideons International, PO Box 95, Cochran, GA 31014.

The family is at 197 Berkley Rd, Cochran and will greet friends Saturday after the service.
