Cochran – Rufus J. Mixon, age 75, died Tuesday, March 16, 2019, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in Orianna Baptist Church in Orianna. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Rufus, born in Swainsboro, spent most of his life in Soperton before moving to Cochran 32 years ago. He was the son of the late R.C. and Trudy Mae Woods Mixon and was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Ann Martin. He was retired after working 34 years with the State of Georgia as a highway foreman. Rufus loved being outdoors, working with wood, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Cochran.

Survivors are his wife, Deborah Mixon of Cochran and his daughter Dawn (Mike) Phillips of Winterville.

The family is at 124 S.7th St and will greet friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
