Hawkinsville – Sammy Roy Hood, age 83, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Bluff Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Sammy, born in Wilcox County, had lived most of his life in Pulaski County. He was the son of the late Roy and Evelyn Coody Hood. Mr. Sammy was an automobile mechanic and owner and operator of Hood's Automotive. He was Baptist.

Survivors are his wife of 38 years, Linda Gale Harvey Hood of Hawkinsville; his daughter, Dana (Robbie) Grimsley of Cochran; his granddaughters, Kimberlyn (Wes) Smith of Douglas and Caroline Thomas of Cochran; great grandson, Mason Anderson of Douglas; his brothers, Charles (Shirley) Hood of Cochran and Larry (Shirley) Hood of Hawkinsville; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 248 Eastman Highway, Hawkinsville and will greet friends Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Mathis Funeral Home.
