Cochran - Sarah Scarborough Smith Revel, age 91, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023, in the care of Agape Hospice and Bryant Nursing Home in Cochran, Georgia. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
Miss Sarah was born in the Roddy Community in Dodge County Georgia to Arnold Patrick Scarborough Sr. and Annie Nora Scarborough at home on February 6, 1932, as her mother's breath froze on the edge of the quilt. Sarah was a 1950 graduate of Dodge County High School.
She worked a long and distinguished career. Starting out in the Shipping and Billing department at L & H shirt factory before becoming an invaluable asset to Olvis Crooms as Office Manager and Bookkeeper at Cochran Insurance and Realty for over 30 years. In her later years while in retirement, she was asked and returned to work as a bookkeeper for the State Bank of Cochran. Her final retirement was at age 80.
Miss Sarah was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and gleefully played the piano five days a week at the Bleckley County Seniors Center. We would like to thank the staff and participants at the Center for looking out for her in her later years as well as providing meals and keeping an eye on her from "across the corner".
Miss Sarah was preceded in death by her first husband James H. (Skeet) Smith, father to Randy and Bruce, as well as her most recent husband and companion Newt Revel. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers J.M., Oscar, A.P., and Aaron Scarborough.
Survivors include her son Randy Smith (Cindy), grandchildren Lindsay Coffee (John), Kaitlyn Smith (Zirka) and Hayden Smith (Taylor), and great-grandchildren Clayton and Smith Coffee, Campbell and Cohen Smith and Whitfield Smith.
Son Bruce Smith (Amy), grandchildren Logan and Avery Smith.
Niece Donna Smith (Ronnie) and great-nieces Millie Smith Oliver and Erin Smith.
Special thanks to the family of Newt Revel, his son Kendall Revel and granddaughter Natalie Prince.
We would also like to give our warmest thanks to the staff at Agape Hospice and Bryant Nursing home for giving Miss Sarah much needed loving care and comfort during her final days.
