Chester – Shirley Ann Barlow, age 74, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 31, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Buckhorn Methodist Church Cemetery in Laurens County.

Shirley, born in Hawkinsville, had lived in Macon before moving to Chester. She was the daughter of the late John A. Bell and Louise Hunley Bell Shew and was preceded in death by her husbands, William E. Thompson and Glen A. Barlow, her son William Mark Thompson and several siblings. Shirley had worked as a dietary manager at nursing homes and was a Baptist.

Survivors are her daughter, Tina "Sissy" (Keith) White of Chester; her grandchildren, Wendy Garnto and Dillon Garnto of East Dublin, Glen Thompson and Brittany Thompson of Eatonton; her great grandchildren, Safiyah Snead, Zaiden Pierce and Charleigh Garnto all of East Dublin; her sisters including Wanda Middlebrooks of Byron; several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may made to the American Heart Association.

The family is at 305 Dodge St., Chester and will greet friends one hour before the service Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
