Cochran – Shirley Smith Hatfield, age 77, died Thursday, December 27, 2018, at her residence following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 30, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Hatfield, a lifelong resident of Bleckley County, was the daughter of the late Guyton and Gladys Smith. She was preceded in death by her infant son "Junior", her sister Debbie Smith Roland and her infant brother Earl Smith. Shirley was a homemaker and member of Sweet Home Primitive Baptist Church in Chester.

Survivors are her husband, Elder Willie Hatfield, Jr. of Cochran; her children, Shelia (Greg) Helms and Jeff Hatfield of Cochran; grandchildren, Davy (Mitzi) Helms, Kyle Helms, Brittney Lewis, Jay (Callie) Hatfield and Scott Hatfield of Cochran; great grandchildren, Dallas, Aubrey, Anna Kate, Cole, Tanner and Tate; her brothers, Dykes Smith and Gerald (Diane) Smith of Cochran; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 341 Country Club Road and will greet friends after the service Sunday at Mathis Funeral Home.
