Cochran – Sonya K. Long, age 59, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at her residence. The family will greet friends Monday, May 18, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elsharath Baptist Church Cemetery in Twiggs County.

Sonya, born in Macon, had lived most of her life in Cochran. She was the daughter of the late William Irvin and Annie Lou Hamburg Hooker. Sonya worked in retail sales and was Baptist.

Survivors are her husband, John R. Long of Cochran; her children, Daniel (Wendy) Long and April Long of Cochran and Heather Long of East Dublin; her grandchildren, Chance, Faith, Gracie, Hope, J.D., Taira, Landon, Mason, Abigail and Kinsley; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 269 King Road, Cochran.
