Twiggs County – Susan Diane Long, age 73, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in Atrium Navicent Health Medical Center in Macon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Susan, born in Hawkinsville, was raised in Cochran and lived most of her life in Twiggs County. She was the daughter of the late William Smith and Shirley Berryhill Smith and was preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Smith Hogan and her brother, Robert “Doodle” Smith. She had worked at Bleckley County High School and Dykes Grassing Company. Susan loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended Elsharath Baptist Church.

Survivors are her husband, Donnie Long of Twiggs County; her children, Donald (Michele Miskimen) Long, Tammy (Ricky) Hill and Dillon (Rachael) Long all of Twiggs County; her grandchildren, Chasity, Marcus, C.J., Torie, Curry, Carsen and Charli Cate; her great grandchildren, Addie, Wiley, Olivia and Lainey; her brothers, Mike (Joy) Smith, John “John-John” (Tina) Smith and Jeff (Sharon) Smith all of Cochran; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 3950 Longstreet Road, Twiggs County.
