Cochran – Susie Mae Sapp Barrs, age 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Bleckley Memorial Hospital. We rejoice that she is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be private in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Barrs, a lifelong resident of Bleckley County, was the daughter of the late George Carlton Sapp and Rosa Lea Watson Sapp. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ray Edgar Barrs, her infant son, and her great grandson, Paxton Barrs, her brothers, Carlton Sapp, Horace Sapp, and M.C. Sapp, her sisters, Elsie S. Tucker and Dorothy S. Meadows and daughter-in-law, Dorothy J. Barrs.

Mrs. Susie was a graduate of Cochran High School and was a lifelong member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful teacher of Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was very devoted to the study of scripture and enjoyed reading in the Georgia Statewide Bible Reading event for many years. Her primary service was to her family. She was a loving homemaker, where caring for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all those who called her "Grandmama" was one of her greatest joys.

Survivors include her sons, Lee (Faye) Barrs and Earl (Wanda) Barrs both of Cochran; special family member, Ronald (Terri) Hall of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Brian (Gretchen) Barrs, Brandon (Brandi) Barrs, Andy (Carmen) Barrs, and Meredith (Philip) Potter; ten great grandchildren, Bryson, Brooks, and Hudson Barrs, Kaylee Rae, Parker, and Blake Barrs, Madlyn and Bowen Potter and Shepard and Kennedy Barrs. She is also survived by beloved sister-in-law and dear friend, Doris R. Sapp of Cochran, as well as numerous special nieces, nephews, and relatives.

The family is at the residence of Lee and Faye Barrs, 429 Ruth Church Road, Cochran and will greet friends after the service Wednesday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 134 Abney Road, Cochran, GA 31014.
