Obituary

BONAIRE – Funeral services for Syble C. Denney, age 84, formerly of Cochran, who passed away at her residence on July 15, 2020, will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home.  Burial will be private in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Denney was born in Dexter, GA and lived in New Symrna Beach, FL, Canton and Woodstock, GA before returning to make Cochran her home.  She was the widow of James E. (Jim) Denney. She was the daughter of the late Wible and Mollie Coley and was preceded in death by her brothers, Willie B. Coley, Charles Coley, and Howard Coley and three sisters-in-law, Robbie Coley, Margrete Coley and Helma Coley.

She was a graduate of Cochran High School, Middle Georgia College, Georgia Southern College and earned a Reading Specialist Degree from Georgia Southwestern College.   Ms. Denney taught in the school systems of Cochran, GA (Librarian while at Cochran High School), New Smyrna Beach FL, and Canton, GA. (Librarian while at Cherokee High School) and was loved by her students.

Ms. Denney was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was a member of the Lucille Wilson Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Cochran, a former member of the Cochran Pilot Club and Retired Teachers' Division of Cochran.

Ms. Denney is survived by two daughters, Teresa Sadler of Bonaire and Stacey (Keith) Eavenson and family of Lizella; one beloved grandson, Hunter Sadler of Colorado Springs, CO.  She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Carl Denney of Roswell; George (Charlene) Denney, Junior (Wylene) Denney, and Cranston Hatcher all of Canton.  She is survived by her sister-in-law, Pat Denney of Canton and three nieces, Cindy (Buddy) Peacock and Colleen Jones of Cochran, and Gaile (David) Palmer of Franklin, TN.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Hospice Care Options for the loving care they provided for the last several years.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor's church or charity of choice.

The family is at 114 Coronation Drive, Bonaire GA and will greet friends after the service at Mathis Funeral Home.
