Chester – Thelma Douglas Rogers, age 89, died Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Bryant Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Chester Baptist Church in Chester. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery in Yonker.

Mrs. Rogers, born in Ideal, Georgia, had lived most of her life in Chester. She was the daughter of the late Henry Douglas and Ruby Balchin Douglas and the wife of the late C.M. Rogers. She was preceded in death by her son Douglas Rogers, her great granddaughter, Jaycie Rogers, sister, Elizabeth Douglas Bryant, brother, Sonny Douglas and a beloved friend, Bubber Moore. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her yard, fishing and looking after her dogs. Mrs. Thelma served on the visiting committee at Chester Baptist Church, where she was a member for many years.

Survivors are her son, Stuart (Doreen) Rogers of Chester, her daughter, Evelyn (Lee) Jessup of Cochran; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; her brother, George T. (Janet) Douglas of Dublin; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 152 Jones Road, Cochran and will greet friends one hour before the service Saturday at Chester Baptist Church.
