Timothy York Sorrells, age 71, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Bleckley Memorial Hospital in Cochran. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. The family will greet friends following the service.

Born on July 13, 1954, in Macon, Timothy was the son of the late Lee Authur Sorrells and Shirley Crowder Brantley. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gary Sorrells. Timothy spent his early years in Macon before enlisting in the United States Army in 1972. During his military service, he served as a Medical Specialist and Operating Room Specialist with the 1st Infantry Division, known as "The Big Red One." His service took him to Germany, Kansas, and Texas, where he earned numerous achievements and certificates for his dedication and skill.

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Timothy worked for Federal Express. He had a lifelong passion for aviation and photography. He found joy in observing aircraft of all kinds and capturing their beauty through photography—a hobby that brought him immense satisfaction throughout his life. Additionally, Timothy had a love for cooking BBQ and was a Georgia Barbecue Association Certified Judge.

Timothy is survived by his spouse, Mary Williams of Cochran; his son, Timothy Sorrells Jr. of Augusta; stepchildren Tommy Rowland (Kim), Sissy Rowland Allen, Ben Rowland (Lynn), and Mandy Rowland (Dale); 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Ricky Sorrells (Pam), Angie Elrod (Dale), Sylvia Brantley, and Albert Brantley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Timothy's memory will live on through those who knew him and cherished him. May his legacy bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
