Lyons – Tony Earl Rowland, age 74, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 2:00 P.M. until time for the service Tuesday at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rowland Family Cemetery in Chester.
Tony, born in Dublin, had lived most of his life in Chester before moving to Lyons. He was the son of the late Ralph Willis and Josephine Oxley Rowland and was preceded in death by his siblings, Shirley Rowland (Leon) Partain, Joan Rowland (Jackie) Warren, Gary Rowland, his nephew, Lance Rowland, brother-in-law, Ronnie Floyd, sisters-in-law, Jackie (Edward) Messer and Harriett (Tony) Mizell. Tony had worked at Middle Georgia College as a mechanic, he was a carpenter, a farmer and cattle farmer.
Survivors are his wife, Sharon Floyd Rowland of Lyons, his daughters, Tonette Raber of Milledgeville and Misty (Aaron) Moncrief of Lyons; grandchildren, Emily (William) Hinson, Holli (Carter) Young, Melanie (Nate) Kinney, Melissa (Michael) Holly and Austin Raber; great grandchildren, Aiden Hinson, Cohen Hinson, Hallie Hinson, Oliver Young and one on the way, Leo Holly and Amelia Holly; his brother, Randy (Reda) Rowland of Chester; his sisters, Rhonda (Jerl) Rowland and Belinda Coody all of Chester; sisters-in-law, Glenda Rowland of Chester and Winfred Floyd of Cochran; several nieces and nephews.
