Cochran – Tony Lamar Sanders, age 76, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Twiggs County with full military honors.

Tony, born in Montgomery, AL, had lived in Cochran since 1981. He was the son of the late Harrell and Nina Mae Sanders and was preceded in death by his brothers, Dale Sanders and Morris Sanders. He was a retired United States Air Force Master Sergeant after 22 years of service. Tony received a Bachelor of Science degree and taught at Twiggs County Middle School for 18 years and was owner and operator of Sunflower Lawn Care. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, JoAnne Ramage Sanders of Cochran; his son Shannon (Laura) Sanders of Jeffersonville; his granddaughter, Lane Sanders of Jeffersonville; his sister, Sharon (Bill) Bogard of Dublin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gail and Ricky Cone and Wayne and Verna Ramage all of Cochran; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 225 Country Club Circle, Cochran and will greet friends Monday, June 12, 2023, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Mathis Funeral Home.
