Warner Robins – Velma Hendrix Morris, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be private in the Parkerson Church Cemetery in Eastman. After the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Rachel Dobbins, located at 104 Topaz Court, Bonaire, GA 31005.
Born in Dodge County, Velma spent her early years in Eastman. She was the daughter of the late General Jackson Hendrix and Ethel Janie Smith Hendrix. Velma pursued various endeavors throughout her life. Before her marriage to Agee Carwell Morris, who preceded her in death, she briefly explored modeling. She later worked in food services at several locations, including Robins Air Force Base. Additionally, she contributed part-time to Truist Bank in the mail section.
Velma was a devoted mother and homemaker who found joy in gardening both flowers and vegetables. She loved cooking and experimenting with new recipes and sang passionately in her church choir. Known for her generosity and compassion, Velma often extended a helping hand to those hospitalized by preparing meals for them, sitting with them during their recovery, or assisting with household tasks.
She is survived by her children: Julie (Dean) Martin of Warner Robins and Daniel (Lynn) Morris of Macon; her grandchildren: Nicole Morris (Jacob) Bors of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Rachel (Matt) Dobbins of Bonaire; Ezekiel "Zeke" (Kimberly) Martin of Blairsville; Zachary Martin of Warner Robins; Joshua (Paige) Martin of Simpsonville, South Carolina; Morgan Martin (Josh) States of North Carolina; Ella Martin of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Kara (Tom) Kamrowski of Byron; as well as her great-grandchildren: Lottie, Lucas D., Faith-Ann, Liam, Lucas K., Sunny and Sutton; 2 great-great grandchildren Oliver and Oaklee.
Velma is also survived by her siblings: Patricia Widner of Fayetteville; Joel (Bobbie Jo) Hendrix of Stockbridge; Barbara (David) Coggins of Byron; her sister-in-law JoAnn Hendrix of Bolingbroke; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care Options at 486 New St., Macon, GA 31201.
Velma's kindness and dedication to others will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she touched throughout her life.
