Mcguire Curley
Aug 7, 1939 — Sep 24, 2025
Cochran - Vicki Weatherly McGuire Curley, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in At Home Senior Living in Cochran. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church Cochran on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Visitation will take place from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Born in Cochran, Mrs. Vicki was the daughter of the late M.B. "Jazzbo" and Clara Lou Thompson Weatherly. A lifelong resident of her hometown, she graduated from Cochran High School before continuing her education at Middle Georgia College and Wesleyan Women's College.
Mrs. Vicki dedicated three decades to shaping young minds as an educator in the Bleckley County School System. She began her teaching career with sixth grade students, but found her true calling in early childhood education, spending the majority of her career teaching kindergarten at Bleckley County Elementary School. After retiring from teaching, she remained active in the educational community through her involvement with the Bleckley County Retired Educator's Club.
Her love for community and fellowship extended beyond the classroom. Mrs. Vicki was an avid square dancer and enjoyed being a member of the Red Barn Spinners and later the Irish Reeler Square Dance Club. Her spiritual life was equally vibrant; she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Cochran and participated regularly in the Lucile Wilson Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Vicki was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. George F. McGuire.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Ed Curley of Cochran; her children: Tracy (Jeff) Dykes, Kip (Lori) McGuire, and Key (Tiffanee) McGuire—all of Cochran—and Kellie (Hardy) Wheeless of Warner Robins; grandchildren: Britney (Chris) Foskey, Zachary Dykes, Mackenzie (Keith) Glover, Clay McGuire, Miranda McGuire, Kaleb McGuire, Lucas Dykes, Paisley Dykes, Abby (Devon) Stubblefield, and Sam Wheeless; seven great-grandchildren with one more expected; sisters Rene Cannon of Cochran and Tina Gaines of Tifton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of At Home Senior Living and Georgia Hospice Care for their compassionate care during this time.
The family will receive friends at 113 Pansy Street.
