Haynesville - Wanda Elaine Hedden, age 70, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, Sep 15, 2021, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Browndale Baptist Church Cemetery in Pulaski County.

Wanda, born in Hawkinsville, was the daughter of the late Milton and Alma Buchanan. She was preceded in death by her baby brother Alan Buchanan. Wanda was a longtime resident of Haynesville and was employed at Pulaski County Board of Transportation. She was a former bus driver in Houston County and drove a special needs bus and loved each and everyone of those children, as they did her. She was a member of Haynesville Church of God and Wanda and her husband Jerry enjoyed every Sunday with their church family.  She was a great believer of Jesus Christ and witnessed to many people with song and dedication to the Word.  She touched many lives and always made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her hobbies were gardening, loving all of her fur babies, singing and spending time with Jerry and her family.  She was an excellent cook, all were welcome and there was never a stranger at her table. She will be greatly missed and her memory will be forever cherished. Until we meet again and dine with her at His table. Wanda was called by many names of love such as Sugar, Baby Girl, Mama, Nana, Nini, and GG Wanda.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jerry Hedden; her three children, Theresa Bowling (Danny), Toy Hedden (Kenny), J.J. Hedden (Liza); her seven grandchildren, Ty Bowling (Courtney), Ashlyn Taylor, Austin Taylor, Dustin Taylor, Cole Bowling, Rome Hedden, Zeke Hedden; her nine great grandchildren, Keelan Battle, Rylynn Bowling, Gunnar Bowling, Weston Taylor, Lailyn Avant, Karmyn Avant, Wayde Bowling, Lennyx Bowling, and Blayr Bowling, her three sisters; Frances Hedden (Calvin), Geraldine McCommon, and Wynelle Hyatt, her two brothers; Charles Rueben Buchanan and Larry Buchanan; several nieces and nephews.

The family is at 3496 Highway 341 South, Hawkinsville and will greet friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Saturday at Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran.
