Cochran– Wayne Carter, age 85, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in At Home Senior Living. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 2:00 P.M., in the Cochran Church of Christ.

Mr. Wayne was born and raised in Hawkinsville. He was the son of the late Joseph Gay and Nellie Mae White Carter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Carter and his sister, Linda Carter Allen. He was retired and had worked at Opelika Mills, in Hawkinsville, for 32 years. He also worked for The Steak House and Piggly Wiggly in Hawkinsville.  In May of 2022, he moved into At Home Senior Living in Cochran. He was the first At Home Senior Living "Ambassador". He would greet people and open the door for them as they walked inside. Mr. Wayne was a faithful member of the Cochran Church of Christ where he served as the song leader for many years.

Survivors are his son, Zachary (Kerri) Carter of Macon; his grandchildren, Evan Carter and Morgan Carter; several nieces nephews and cousins.

The family will greet friends after the service Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Cochran Church of Christ.
