Roddy – William Lamar "Strib" Sawyer, age 92, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in Roddy Community Cemetery.

Mr. Sawyer was born on February 21, 1931, in Dodge County. He was the son of the late Beaufort Bryant and Lila Belflower Sawyer and was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Gladys Reece Sawyer. Mr. "Strib" grew up in Dodge County. He was a graduate of Chester High School and at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Army. This led him to a career in the Air National Guard where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and Deputy Commander of the 116 Fighter Wing. After retiring, he and Mrs. Gladys moved to Roddy in 1983. He served as a volunteer at the Christian Life Center in Eastman for 20 years. He was a member of Roddy Baptist Church.

Mr. "Strib" is survived by a large, loving family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to any veteran's assistance of your choice or donations of goods or services may be made to the Christian Life Center, 307 King St, Eastman, GA 31023.

The family will greet friends after the service Saturday in Roddy Community Cemetery.
