William Harvey
Wynne
Dec 1, 1937 — Jun 23, 2026
William Harvey Wynne, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Dublinair Nursing Home in Dublin. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Mathis Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
Harvey was a lifelong resident of Bleckley County and the son of the late William Leonard Wynne and Estelle Powell Wynne Davis and Morris Davis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Reeves Wynne, and his brothers, Willard Wynne and Herman Wynne.
Harvey retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base after many years of dedicated service. In his retirement, he embraced life's simple joys—playing guitar with various bands well into his 80s, cheering for his favorite NASCAR drivers on Sunday afternoons, tending to his garden, woodworking, repairing anything that needed fixing, fishing, hunting, telling jokes that brought laughter to those around him, and savoring a good cigar.
His family cherishes fond memories of summers spent at his home—swimming in the pool, shucking corn and shelling peas from the garden together, and enjoying the warmth of family gatherings. Harvey will be remembered for his gentle spirit, sense of humor, quiet strength, grateful heart, and the unconditional love he showed to his family every day. One of his greatest joys was being "Pop" to his great-grandchildren: Jaxson Prim, Grayson Prim, Briana Baker, and Brooklyn Baker.
A Christian by faith, Harvey attended Union Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughters Tammy (Mike) Reid and Audrey (Steve) Brown of Cochran; granddaughters Eryn (Hunter) Prim of Adel, Iowa and Janna (Paul) Baker of Athens; great-grandchildren Jaxson Prim, Grayson Prim, Briana Baker, and Brooklyn Baker; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family is at 137 Jones Rd, Cochran.
Harvey's memory will live on in the stories shared by those who knew him best—the traditions he fostered and the love he gave so freely. May his legacy bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
