Cochran - Ms. Yvonne Stone Butler, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 after a valiant battle with illness. Her devotion and love for her family and her steadfast faith in God supported her in her last moments of life. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 22, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Mathis Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Bambrough officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood City Cemetery.

Ms. Yvonne was born to the late DeLeon and Gertrude Stone in Glenwood, GA on March 17, 1935. She graduated from Glenwood High School, attended Brewton Parker College and received her Master's in Education from Georgia Southern University. After being a beloved teacher for more than 50 years she retired from the Bibb County School District as well as Twiggs Academy.

Yvonne was blessed with four loving children. Angel, Melanie, Michael and Yvette. She was an educator at heart and had a passion for teaching. She was strong and steadfast in her faith in the Lord. She was a generous giver of her time and resources to God, her family, friends and church. She was kind, loving, caring and thoughtful to all. She was devoted to her family and known as Nana by them.

Yvonne is preceded in death by her daughter Angel Horton.

Yvonne is survived by her children; Melanie (John) Eubanks of Cochran, GA, Michael (Jessica) Horton of Conyers, GA and Yvette Craig of Marathon, FL; grandchildren Chad (Sheri Lynn) Eubanks of Oak Ridge, TN, Ashley (Ronnie) Hawkins of Cochran, GA, Caleb (Emily) Eubanks of Nashville, TN, Paige Horton of Macon, GA, Kaci (Drew) Ward of Fayetteville, GA, Kristi (Stephen) Lanford of Hampton, GA and Shane Sibley of North Carolina; twelve great grandchildren and her brother Don (Tommy) Stone of McRae, GA.

The family is at 194 E. Beech St and will greet friends one hour before the service Friday at Mathis Funeral Home.
